Frequently asked questions.

Where do we fish?

It all depends on the trip. Depends on where you’re located and the species you want to target. Generally the guide will give you the best recommendations to the best possible fishing on a given day. We Spend our Striper trips in Penobscot Bay out of Rockport Harbor. Lake Bass fishing trips go out of either Megunticook Lake in Camden or St. George Lake in Liberty. Trout fishing trips take place on the Megunticook and St. George Rivers in the towns, Searsmont, Appleton, Union and Camden Maine.

Where do we meet?

Depending on the location of the specific trip the guide will communicate directly with you on the exact location. Boat trips the guide will have the boat launched and ready for you at the designated boat launch.

What do we need to bring on the trip?

Just bring yourselves dressed for the days weather and ready to catch fish. Sunglasses and a hat are nice. Lake or river trips you will need to purchase a fishing license if you are over 16, which you can do HERE. Bring any medications (insulin, inhaler, epipen).

What is included on the trip?

Saltwater boat trips your license is included with the cost of the trip. Guide provides, all safety equipment, rods, reels, flies, tackle, bait, water, snacks, sunscreen on all trips. Photos during the trip and all the Good times.

What time are the trips?

For bass and trout fishing trips the best fishing times are around sunrise and sunset but the guide is happy to schedule trips around your schedule. Saltwater trips have the best luck fishing the incoming tide. The guide will set up that time with you but can also set up a time that works best with your schedule.

Can we keep any of the fish we catch?

For the most part we practice catch and release but understand there are times you may want to take your catch home for table fair. As long as it’s within the state regulations you can keep what you catch if you choose to do so. On Saltwater trips if you keep a Striper your gudie can fillet and bag your catch.

How many people can you take?

We like to keep trips small and personalized with groups of 1-2 people. The Boat best fishes two people (plus the captain). We can accomodate larger groups upon request either on the same boat or teaming up with another local guide.

What do we fish for and when?

All depends on the seaon and time of year. Spring, mid April until late May, we spend our time on the rivers targeting brook trout, brown trout, and rainbow trout. From Mid May until early July we target largemouth and smallmouth bass in the lakes. Early July through mid September we spend the majority of our time in the bay chasing Striped Bass, but can still target bass in the lakes.
